True Temper Little Diggers
True Temper Hardware Company dates back to 1808 when it began as “The Old Stone Shop” in Wallingford, Vermont. Alexander Miller, a blacksmith, manufactured hoes, axes, nails, etc in the shop made of marble from a nearby quarry. In the 1830’s, Lyman Batcheller and sons acquired the shop and began forging a variety of agricultural forks. In 1902, Batcheller & Sons joined 16 other forging companies to form The American Fork and Hoe Company, located in Cleveland, Ohio. The company continued to manufacture a variety of agricultural products, particularly shovels and other digging tools.
For this particular project True Temper were looking to introduce a new range of kid's gardening tools to the market. There was 6 tools in the set and they wanted something that would appeal to both parents and children alike.
I chose to go down the route of choosing a different illustrated character for each tool. The idea was to give each tool a personality much like the characters I chose to illustrate. The project was a great success and sales continue to be very brisk for the range.
SuperValu's brief was to come up with a design for their pie range that would compete with the brand leaders. They wanted something distinctive and premium with a sense of fun.
